Family support is integral to the success of mental health treatment. Information from parents, teachers, guardians, caregivers, and others involved in the care of children and some adults is necessary for adequate evaluations and treatment. Some family members may be included in the evaluation and treatment plan, at other times sending notes or leaving a detailed message in our voice mail system may be convenient. Communication with family and others is essential when patient safety requires additional structure, when maltreatment of a child is suspected, or in other situations required by law.
At the same time, all patients have the right to the benefits of a confidential professional relationship. We will help define the levels of communication that will be important to your treatment.
